Inconel 625 Weld Overlay

For the resistance of corrosion on the I.D of some type of equipment used in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industries in cases where there is a need for mitigating corrosion due to certain processes that flow through this equipment, a lining is applied on the I.D of some of this equipment and in the narrative below we are highlighting that Decundi Inspection Services have several Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) who are experts in the area of carrying out inspection during Inconel 625 weld overlay (not limited to this consumable) on the I.D at seat pockets on Gate Valves and overlay at bonnet seal and ring groove on said Gate Valves (not limited to this commodity).

Before the start of Inconel 625 weld overlay at I.D at seat pockets on Gate Valves and overlay at bonnet seal and ring groove, Decundi's inspector carries out inspections for verification that machining of the areas to be weld overlaid is rough machined and that the machining of these areas is in accordance with the drawing for the respective equipment.

Also, before the start of Inconel 625 weld overlay at I.D at seat pockets on Gate Valves and overlay at bonnet seal and ring groove, Decundi's inspector carried out a review for the material test report (MTR) for the welding consumable where in the narrative mentioned above, that the review of the MTR is carried out for Inconel 625 electrode which is noted to be 0.045" diameter ERNiCrMo-3 (625) Mig Wire including the heat number for the consumable.

Prior to carrying out the deposition of Inconel 625 weld overlay, preheating is carried out for (in this case) the body of Gate Valves, and the welding procedure specification (WPS) is reviewed by the Decundi inspector for the preheat and interpass temperatures, and verification of the preheat temperature is generally carried out by means of a Tempilstik based on the parameter for the preheat (and interpass temperature) as shown on the WPS.

During Inconel 625 weld overlay on the I.D at seat pockets on Gate Valves and overlay at bonnet seal and ring groove, the Decundi inspector, who is assigned to a specific project for the client, carries out monitoring inspection for the flow rate of the shielding gas per Section IX, QW-408 plus monitoring of the amperage and voltage per Section IX, QW-409. In addition, after overlapping passes, the weld overlaid surfaces are visually inspected for verification that the Inconel 625 weld overlay is free of defects, which may be in various forms.
